Ana Maria Galindo Serrano

Head of Green ITN Programme, Orange

 

Ana Galindo-Serrano received her telecommunication and electronic engineering degree from Instituto Superior Politcnico José Antonio Echeverria, La Habana, Cuba, in 2007 and her masters and PhD at the Dept. of Signal Theory and Communications (TSC) of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in 2012. The same year she joined Orange Labs as a research engineer. She pursued research during 8 years on mobile communication systems design, especially for new radio and critical communications. In 2020, she moved to green networks department where, among other tasks, she launch and co-lead the NGMN Geen Future Network project. Currently, she is the head of the green networks transformation at Orange focused on networks’ energy saving techniques, clean energy and circular economy.

Yogesh Malik

EVP and CTIO, Tele2

Since joining VEON as its Group Chief Technology Officer in March 2014, Yogesh Malik has led a remarkable transformation of the company’s approach to technology, from successfully digitising the core of its operations in key markets to preparing VEON’s networks to embrace a 5G world. His early efforts were recognised with a ‘CTO of the Year’ award in 2017 by Mobile Europe.

Prior to joining VEON, Yogesh was CEO of Telenor India (Uninor) following a number of senior technology and business roles in Europe, North and South America, China and south Asia.

Yogesh is an Executive MBA graduate of IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland and holds a degree in engineering from MSU University in India. He is also NGMN Board Member.

Dr. Wen Tong

Huawei Fellow, CTO of Huawei Wireless

Dr. Wen Tong is the CTO, Huawei Wireless. He is the head of Huawei wireless research. In 2011, Dr. Tong was appointed the Head of Communications Technologies Labs of Huawei. Currently, he is the Huawei 5G chief scientist and leads Huawei’s 10-year-long 5G wireless technologies research and development. Prior to joining Huawei in 2009, Dr. Tong was the Nortel Fellow and head of the Network Technology Labs at Nortel. He joined the Wireless Technology Labs at Bell Northern Research in 1995 in Canada. Dr. Tong is industry recognized leader in invention and standardization of advanced wireless technologies. He is the key contributor to 3GPP since its inception. Dr. Tong was elected as a Huawei Fellow and an IEEE Fellow. He was the recipient of IEEE Communications Society Industry Innovation Award for “the leadership and contributions in development of 3G and 4G wireless systems” in 2014, and IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Industry Leader Award for “pioneering technical contributions and leadership in the mobile communications industry and innovation in 5G mobile communications technology” in 2018. He is also the recipient of R.A. Fessenden Medal. He had pioneered fundamental technologies from 1G to 5G wireless with more than 450 granted US patents. Dr. Tong is a Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering, and he also serves as Board of Director of WiFi Alliance. He is based in Ottawa, Canada.

Vivek Gupta

Head of Telco AI Solutions and Partnerships, Google Cloud

Vivek Gupta leads the Analytics and AI solution offerings for Google Cloud’s Global Telecom Industry vertical, with Vivek and his team driving Google Cloud’s technology leadership and investments in the area of consumable use cases that enable 5G evolution and overall CSP digital transformation. Before this role, Vivek has spent 7+ years across multiple Google product areas, with a focus on CSP and Telecom partnerships for Google Hardware and Android.

Before joining Google, Vivek was Vice President, Product Management, at Qualcomm for their Connected Home initiatives. Vivek brings more than 25+years of experience in the Telecom and Consumer industries, and has run P&L and Business Development groups at Qualcomm, Atheros and ArrayComm before Google.

Vivek holds a MS in Biomedical Engineering from University of Tennessee and BS (B-Tech) in EE from IIT Kanpur, India.

Dr. Verena Weber

Head of the Communication Infrastructures and Services Policy Unit, OECD

Verena Weber is Head of the Communication Infrastructures and Services Policy Unit at the OECD’s Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation where she leads OECD’s team on connectivity and communication infrastructure policy and regulation.

She has more than a decade of experience working with the OECD on topics relating to the Digital Economy. Her current projects focus, for example, on trends in broadband infrastructure and markets, the security of communication networks, convergence, network neutrality, the role of cloud computing, ICTs for development and national telecommunication reviews.

Recent projects include the 2021 OECD Recommendation on Broadband Connectivity, OECD Telecommunication and Broadcasting Reviews of Brazil and Mexico and the OECD Digital Economy Outlook 2020. Between 2014 and 2015 she worked as an Internet Governance Advisor to the ICT Minister Diego Molano and the head of the Comisión de Regulación de Comunicaciones (CRC) in Colombia where she developed an Internet governance strategy. She also served as a country representative on the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers’ (ICANN) Government Advisory Committee (GAC) and is a past representative of the OECD to the Internet Governance Forum.

Dr. Weber holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Mannheim, an MBA from ESSEC Business School Paris-Singapore, and a doctorate (Dr. rer. Pol.) of WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management.
